Hydrological Studies
Peak Rainfall & River Flows

How can hydrology help me?
Hydrology studies the movement, distribution and management of water as a risk and as a resource.
Our studies use the most advanced software in the industry to ascertain the patterns of rainfall and flows. This can be helpful in a number of cases, including:
- Water Resources – we use numerical analytic methods and sophisticated coding to process large amounts of flows and rainfall data to estimate the resources available at a particular area.
- Flood Risk – our team uses advanced software tools (ReFH2, WINFAP-FEH & bespoke coding) to estimate peak rainfall and flows for design events, based on observed data. This data can then be used to inform Flood Risk Assessments and Hydraulic Modelling exercises.
How to know if you need a hydrological study?
You may benefit from a hydrological study if you are working in one of the following topics:
- Flood Risk & Hydraulic Modelling – the most up-to-date hydrology is most likely the key to undertake accurate hydraulic modelling;
- Property Valuation & Insurance – The value of your property is affected by the possibility of acquiring insurance. If you are denied insurance, the opinion of an expert can change the outcome of a valuation;
- Land acquisition – when acquiring a plot of land it is important to assess the future risk of flooding, thus predicting any impacts on future uses;
